Self Portrait in Glass Holiday Workshop

In this activity, students will explore the self portrait. We will review some examples and discuss features, proportion and the mood they will want to express.
After drawing a self portrait on paper, we will take a look at the various forms of glass, (stringers, frit, rod dots and sheet glass pieces) and talk about how they will change through firing in the kiln .  Students will then translate their self portraits from their drawings, onto a pre-fired piece of glass – using glue tac.  This 10 x 15 cm piece of glass will have a wire embedded in the top for hanging.  The self portraits will be kiln fired, and the finished piece will be available for pick up within a few days.
BeachGecko Glass will offer 2 sessions on Tues 6 Jan, 2015
10 to 11:30 am

Parents (Grandparents) are free to make their own self portrait as well – this activity will be a great one to share, and your self portraits will be a reminder of a good time spent together in years to come!
