New Workshops Available Now!

Introduction to Bead Making on the Minor Burner Torch!!!     NEW!!    9-3:30 pm  (Available to YOUR schedule, for balance of  April and into May)

This is a full day workshop introducing you to the magic of bead making!  We will use a minor burner, which is fueled with an oxy/ propane surface mix torch.

We will begin with basic torch safety, and the very basics of laying on your “footprint” for a basic bead (and your “marker” bead.)

Pulling stringer from the Bullseye Rods in order to embellish your beads with dots and stripes; making twisties and using reactive colours for the “wave”, will all be demonstrated and practiced.
The experience of working with molten glass and the Minor Burner, will give you an idea of the basic principles of the Hot Shop: you must always keep your bead mandrels turning and horizontal; you must constantly be aware of the core temperature of your beads as you add surface embellishments,
and you must remember that all equipment and tools are HOT!  This day will absolutely fly by, and you will return to pick up your stringer of beads with joy and amazement at what you  have created!

The workshop will be a series of demonstrations and then practice time.
$325/ person Max 4 participants  (All safety equipment and beading materials included.)

After completing this workshop, you will be eligible for Open Studio on the torch.

4 participants is the max, however, for the remainder of April and into May, I will schedule a workshop with 1 or 2 participants.  If you are interested, please email me your available dates, and I will attempt to match you up with someone else.

We are also offering the full day Introduction to Glass Fusing Workshop on Sun 22 April from 9 to 4:30 pm.

Unleash the Artist within!

This full day workshop is loads of fun and you will make a test tile, a jewelry pendant (or a key chain), and a functional art piece.

The basic concepts of fusing glass will be explained and you will work with glass powders, frit and stringers with your test tile. The concept of “negative space” will become clear as you make your pendant, and the rest of the afternoon will be devoted to designing your “main event”. This is a 17cm x 17 cm dish, which will be fused and then slumped. All materials and necessary equipment will be provided, as well as morning and afternoon tea.

You must bring your own lunch – we have a microwave and a refrigerator available. Please wear comfortable, casual clothing and closed toe shoes. A drink bottle is handy in warmer weather.

No previous experience with glass is required.

9:00am to 4:30pm          Class size: 8  $250.00/ person  (4 places still available)

Pendant Project Workshop!
